Man shot dead in hijacking

Durban - A 35-year-old man was shot dead during an attempted hijacking on the N2 in Sibaya, Durban North, on Saturday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Spokesperson Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said the man was attacked at 04:00.

"He died on the scene and his assailants fled shortly afterwards, leaving the car behind."

He could not say why the man's attackers had decided to leave the car behind if the motive was hijacking.

"The Durban North police are investigating the matter."
