Hijackers kill fleeing victim

Johannesburg - A woman was shot dead on Thursday in Johannesburg's Kew suburb by a group of men who hijacked her car, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Trevor Putterill said the woman had been stopped by the men as she was driving up the driveway of her house at about 17:00.

"As they climbed into her car she climbed out and ran down the road. The men then reversed the car and chased after her.

"When they caught up with her they shot her before driving off," said Putterill.

Paramedics transported her to Linksfield hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival, said Putterill.
