Man killed in house robbery

Johannesburg - A 55-year-old man was shot and killed by three armed men who stormed his employers' house in Krugersdorp's Monument suburb on Wednesday morning, West Rand police said.

The gunmen shot the helper, tied his two employers up and made off with an undisclosed amount of money taken from a safe, spokesperson Constable Sefako Xaba said.

"They gained entry into the property by breaking the locked chain at the gate. They then shot the helper and robbed his employers."

The three fled the house on foot and police were searching for them.

Netcare 911's Nick Dollman said the victim - who was shot in the head and chest - was already dead when paramedics arrived at the scene.
