Four women shot in KZN
May 20 2007 at 03:03PM
An Umlazi student constable, one of her neighbours and two
other women were found shot dead in Kwa-Makutha on Sunday, said KwaZulu-Natal
police.
Their bodies were discovered by relatives of the neighbour, said Senior
Superintendent Phindile Radebe.
They went to look for her when she did not return after paying an evening
visit to the constable.
All four women had gunshot wounds.
Radebe said the motive for the murders was not known, but a door to the
house had been forced open and some goods - including a DVD player - taken.
She said the killings were, at this stage, not being linked to a series
of muti-murders in the area.
The latest of those was thought to have been on Friday, said another police
spokesperson, Superintendent Vincent Mdunge.
He said a woman was found dead in Kwa-Makutha with hack wounds to the
back of her head and her forehead.
Her right ear had been chopped off and it appeared that she was raped
before being killed.
Mdunge said police arrested seven men earlier 2007 for six muti-related
murders carried out between December and March. They included a sangoma
and six men who sold him body parts. They were all still in custody. -
