M1 closed after hijacking drama

Johannesburg police closed the busy M1 South highway in Johannesburg, from the Smith street on-ramp, after a shoot-out with hijacking suspects. One policeman and three suspects were wounded.

According to sources on the scene, the police were pursuing hijack suspects. A shoot-out ensued. It is uncertain how badly injured the policeman is. There are about 20 police vans on the scene.
