Robber shot in armed robbery

Johannesburg - An armed robber was shot and wounded when he held up a fast food outlet in Mayville on Friday, Pretoria police said.

Inspector Paul Ramaloko said the man held an unknown number of people hostage at the Kentucky Fried Chicken at the Jacaranda Centre in Mayville.

When police arrived on the scene, the man pointed his firearm at them and they reacted by firing at him.

He was currently receiving medical attention, Ramaloko said.
