Pta home owner kills burglar

Pretoria - A resident shot dead one of three robbers breaking into a residential complex at Swartkops in Pretoria on Tuesday morning, police said.

Inspector Paul Ramaloko said three men, one of them armed with a knife, were breaking into an apartment in the Belgroma complex.

"They were breaking the door or window when a neighbour at the complex alerted the owner of the apartment," he said.

The man shot dead one of the burglars, and the other two escaped by jumping over the complex wall.

The identity of the dead burglar was not known, said Ramaloko.

An inquest docket against the owner had been opened and an attempted robbery case against the burglar had been opened.

The search for the other two burglars was under way, said Ramaloko.
