Robber shot dead in Pta bank

Pretoria - A bank robber was killed when an off-duty metro policewoman opened fire on men trying to rob the First National Bank in Pretoria North on Thursday.

Tshwane metro police spokesperson William Baloyi said the shooting happened shortly before 15:00 at Wonderpark shopping centre.

A group of men entered the bank and robbed both clients in the bank of their possessions and also tried to rob the bank.

They took the metro policewoman's cellphone and wallet, when she opened fire, fatally wounding one of them.

It was not clear if the robbers who had escaped got away with any money.
