Would-be robbers crash birthday party
A party-goer fought back and shot dead two would-be robbers
at a birthday party in Kempton Park on the East Rand, police said on Wednesday.
Captain Jethro Mtshali said two men aged between 25 and 30 interrupted
a family birthday party in Bredel near Kempton Park on Tuesday night.
The would-be robbers told the family at gunpoint to raise their hands
above the heads, but were not aware that one of the family members was
armed.
The armed party-goer shot both robbers in the head, killing them instantly.
Police found two 9mm pistols next to the bodies of the suspects.
Mtshali said police also established that a Toyota Corolla used by the
suspects was stolen in Boksburg.
Police have opened a case of attempted robbery and an
inquest. - Sapa
