Alleged robber killed in Midrand

An alleged robber has been shot dead at a house in Glen Austin, Midrand on Wednesday, Johannesburg paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said the man was found lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound in his chest.

Captain Matlhodi Motadi said the man broke the kitchen window to gain access to the house.

"However once he entered the house, the dog started barking and awoke the home owner who then shot the man, killing him instantly.

"It is clear that he was trying to rob the couple," said Motadi.
